which were extremely territorial and fiercely protective of one another

I found a total of four of these beautifully sculptural

I haven't done research to try to figure it out, but might guess she has lost a husband or son in war. A small photo, but I think a very striking one. 3 3 8" x 2 1 2", very good antique condition. Early 20th c. I believe.
