Goldstrom has been creating small scale ceramic sculpture and tiles in a similar manner for many decades (unbeknownst to me until now)

and some use of red and blue ink in addition to black (which reads now as sepia) The book starts in one direction then was flipped midway and started in the other direction

With a clear coat over the painting that gives it a sheen

including for being able to see where the linen was pierced in order to be darned

I like penny rugs as a thing, but rarely come across one I really love this one to my eye just right, with strong graphic appeal due to those blacks, but nice soft colors everywhere else, including the hand dyed cotton ground, which shows some fading bleeding, all to the good in my opinion. 51" x 24 3 4".
