Sir John Lubbock, Bart, MP, FRS, Vice-Chancellor of the University of London Dutch oven 6th February 1988Sir John Lubbock, Bart, MP, FRS, Vice Chancellor of the University of London, 1877. Lubbock (1834 1913) was an English banker, archaeologist, naturalist and politician. His Prehistoric Times, first published in 1865, was one of the most influential archaeological books of the 19th century. In it he coined the terms Palaeolithic and Neolithic for the first time. He also carried out research into the behaviour of ants and other insects. From Men of
