Wonderful Old Native American Carved Polychrome Totem Pole, Presumed Nootka turned box The lacquer is in excellentThe patina on this beautifully carved small totem pole is fantastic, and the painting really wonderful, done in a relatively reserved palette of red, blue and black, with pale yellow for the dots on the wings of the eagle and sides of the figure below. I am not at all an expert, but believe this is most likely by a Nootka (Nuu chah nulth) carver from the SW Coast of Vancouver Island, and mostly likely dates to the earlyish 20th century.
