I have a particular affection for this fellow

but also for the fact that they somehow escaped the trash heap for me to rather miraculously to discover them buried in a pile at a flea market some 80 years later

Beautiful Old Faithful c. 1920s Box of Chalk woven wool textile 5 1/2" t x 3This is the second box of Old Faithful "Sterling" chalk I've found, and I'll keep buying them when I found them, as much to look at as to use. Though not quite as fine as the American Crayon Company's "Waltham" chalk, sold for just "a trifle more" as noted on one side of the box, it's pretty fabulous chalk definitely incentive to find an old slate chalkboard if one doesn't have on already. I especially love the gently tapering shape with rounded tip
