K5054 was the only Spitfire prototype made and was first flown by 'Mutt' Summers on 5th March 1936
Glenn Curtis then formed the Herring-Curtiss Company with Augustus Herring which was then renamed the Curtiss Aeroplane Company in 1910 based in Hammondsport
During the Cold War the RAF worked with NATO as part of a 'one-two' attack strategy
flown by aces such as Richard Bong
