There are a couple of tiny scratches in the quartz and perhaps some very aging to the silver of the beak

with a perfectly formed slab handle

it feels very Asian influenced and a little Art Deco too

A really good face I think, especially his snout, and a little wood left unpainted at the center of his eyes to perfect effect. 8 1 8" t x 6 7 8" w and in good condition. There is a little roughness along the edge of the left ear; it doesn't look to me like any wood lost, just a little loss of the black paint.
